Imus In His Bathrobe

Yesterday, I met with Don Imus at his apartment on Central Park West in Manhattan.
The man born on a cattle ranch who joined the Marines and went on to reinvent radio sat by his fireplace and talked, laughed and sparred with me about life, death, love, business, marketing, morons, geniuses and why he doesn’t shake hands with anyone.

Thank you for sharing. I was a huge Imus fan for many years, now, I really don’t listen too much. When it comes to selling, or interviewing, Imus has no equal, but with this last firing, came a newer, more cautious Don Imus. His guest list seems to be dictated from Fox than his booker, Bernard and frankly, less interesting. And don’t get me started on his preoccupation with Race. Imus thinks he is “continuing a discussion” that never started in the first place! This new “conversation” is dull programming to his long time fans, who remember the Imus who climbed the flagpole at 30 Rock, ripped the USSR flag off the pole and ripped into hundreds of pieces in protest over Lord knows what. Or the many crazy characters created and written by Imus and Charles MCord, like “Crazy Bob”, Moby Worm, Rev. Billy Sol Hargus or Geraldo Santana Banana. No, Don Imus is in his last moments on the air. It’s a shame he’s become…boring.
