In My Life, I’ve Loved Them All

In my years, people have passed through my life and I through theirs, by the thousands. They were and are family, friends, lovers, clients, admirers and detractors, partners, collaborators, allies.

It is a human parade that marches through and around every life. When I glance through the 7,812 contacts in my cell phone, I no longer recall many of them. Who they are. What they do.  Why I put their information on record, what we talked about, if we dined together or worked on a deal. If it was a happy union or simply ships passing in the night with no emotion at all.

But what I do know with absolute clarity, with passion and devotion (even if I am no longer close to them physically), is that there is a special, indelible realm for those who found a place in my heart. Who showed me love and support and sunsets and beaches covered with fresh snow and wild nights and quiet moments under an oak tree. For those who cared for me, who watched my back, who loved me and let me love them, who put their heads together with mine to create exponential results, who helped me build MSCO, raise my sons, believed in me, sacrificed for my benefit and I for theirs.

I have loved them all. I still do. Nothing can change that. The fact is, they may have started out in the human parade but they moved to an intimate circle that I draw upon every day for comfort, joy, well-being and a sense of a life well lived, deep and rich.

I owe them everything but they ask for nothing in return.
