We are at a time and place in America when the abyss is where the great and fruited plains used to sit. Our toes are at the edge. We are about to free fall into the dark ugliness that surrounds us in the place where pride, opportunity and unbridled optimism used to prevail.
Those of us who understand how the machinery that governs us works–what it plots for and how it thinks–we know in the recesses of our minds the fate we are about to face. The truth is, all of the nightmare scenarios are about to unfold:
*Our free market capitalist system will fail, overwhelmed as it is becoming, by webs of rules, penalties and taxes.
*Success will be viewed as evil and the property associated with it will be confiscated.
*The bedrock of our nation of laws–the US Constitution–will give way to dictatorial fiat. Slowly, at first but then with increasing vengeance and velocity.
*Terrorists will attack the mainland, making 9\11 appear to be a minor catastrophe in comparison. We will be crippled by it, mentally and institutionally.
*The United States armed forces will be shrunk to a forth rate force, leaving once invincible America vulnerable to every slime ball killing cult that we don’t even have the guts to identify.
*Our culture — once our strongest and most resilient asset — will be poisoned and denigrated into warring factions, driven by jealousy and hatred.
*The American dream — the wellspring that fed our greatness — will give way to an entitlement mentality that makes dreaming a waste of time.
We rest and revel in this wonderful holiday season, knowing that we still have so much to be thankful for. And we are thankful indeed.
In the end, however, that makes the impending loss more painful to bare.Email This Post
