What the hell does that mean? I have no idea, but the words popped into my head and I had to go with it. You know, figure it out on the fly. Like in the course of writing this post.

Let me start by saying, this is no 60-second Super Bowl spot for fascists. They are all scum and well, they don’t make the best anything, except genocidal murderers.

Everyday, I see business people, real and wannabes, juggling the hand grenades of risk and reward that are fundamental elements of entrepreneurship, of commerce.

There are more questions than answers.

* Legislators defy their state Constitution and the very fabric of American democracy by running away with their hair on fire rather than standing up and taking a vote.

* Our southern border is wide open to criminal elements who enter our nation with impunity and then become a privileged class entitled to our dwindling largess.

* Average people who find a way to innovate, take risk, invent the proverbial better mousetrap and succeed beyond all odds, are vilified as wealthy demons who have somehow gamed the system.

For business people determined to make a difference in life, the competition is not the competition.

Time is.

As Steve Jobs rests in hiding seeking to recover from what must be a life threatening illness, he knows the only real threat to his ability to build on this extraordinary triumphs, is mortality. Put bluntly, that his time may be up.

Attend a class at any business school in the world and you will hear professors waxing poetic about concepts for new businesses. Ideas that can’t miss. The next Google, Facebook or Microsoft.

But what these blackboard entrepreneurs miss is that their recipes for success must be validated by a filter most of them discount or detest: the risk taking capitalists who reach into their bank accounts and back the shots in the dark with the money they need to make it to market.
