When I asked Bill what he feared most in life, he said it was the next young guy lurking in the shadows, playing with code and an enormous vision, who would run past him as if he were a relic of the past.

Bill has now seen the ghost and its name is Zuckerberg.

I often say that it takes two people to create a bureaucracy. It’s not an exaggeration, I see it all the time. Let’s up the number to 20 or 200 people if you feel that’s more accurate. The rule remains the same: Unless you as a manager, a leader, are determined to root out the signs of bureaucracy and its agents, you will be in the grips of one.

In many ways it is a failure that wears the camouflage of success. We become hypnotized, sometimes intoxicated, by the fact that we are moving forward but the goal is NOT to achieve momentum, it is to win.
