The Coen Brothers’ 2009 film, “A Serious Man,” is built around the 1967 Jefferson Airplane classic, “Somebody To Love. ”

It is a typical Coen Brothers’ tangled story of despair, masterfully executed and focused on a Big Bang epiphany that all of the most cherished truths, vaunted seers and wise men are about as smart and right with their theories of life — as a village idiot.

It is widely believed that “yes” and “no” are simply two sides of the same coin.

But the truth is, they are worlds apart. The reason lies in the fact that they are more than words: they are in the case of “yes,” a pathway to action. And in the case of “no,” a brick wall to prevent it.

Everything beautiful is inconsistent.

The first time I set my eyes on the lady from Madrid, she was, I believed, just the latest of a long line of celluloid sirens who waltz through our lives, light up the silver screen, fade from the headlines and surface again as aged queens of joint relief infomercials.

I was light years off base.
