The President Who Would Be A Pope

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 by admin | Posted in Unconventional Thinking | Comments

Everyday since Barack Obama took office, I have been tortured by his presence in the White House. Not because of his role as President but instead for his ascension to King. Last week he added a new title to his imprimatur: Pope Obama.

During his three-plus years on the throne, we have become a nation of sheep. As he strips away the Constitution, appoints Czars in what had been a nation of laws, invades every aspect of our personal lives, reverses our founding aspiration for success with support of the Occupy Failure whiners, we stand by and watch America slip away.

Now he wants to thrust himself into the Catholic church, DEMANDING that organizations under its holy umbrella commit acts which are anathema to the very belief system that makes the congregants Catholic.

Where are the checks and balances? The House controls the nation’s purse strings. Or does it? All we see is a tsunami of spending. The Supreme Court will likely void the health care debacle–passed by an imperious and vindictive king who defied the will of the people and bribed court jesters to mount the impression of a majority vote. The justice’s decision will matter not a whit. The monarch will push the act through under any and every circumstance. Why? Because the only Supreme anything, in his Washington, holds court at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

But more than Obama, I write about the citizens. What do we do in light of a despot who usurps ever more power everyday, seeks to destroy the nation we love, makes his presence and his will known in our businesses and now our bedrooms?

When a democracy is threatened by an outright coup, the people recognize that action must be taken to reverse the tide, to protect their liberties, their freedom. When it slips away inch by inch, almost invisibly, we go to work, pay our bills, raise our kids–going through life as usual until one day we look up and see the stars and stripes have been replaced by a smug

and smiling image of Chairman Obama.

Then we know it’s too late!

    Mark,
Maybe it’s just me but all your writings seem to make a lot of sense. The unfortunate thing is that most Americans have no idea what is happening and probably wouldn’t care if they did. Just like the Germans of a few years ago.

  2. Elena Patrice Says:

Amen Tom! Mark tells it like it is and so poetically may I add! The disturbing thing is no one is noticing the sleeping giant waking and you’re right … they probably wouldn’t care, which is flat out heartbreaking!! This is an insane period we are in and we better be prepared for all that is to follow.

You guys should write an epic novel with all this doomsday rhetoric. After Obama’s 8 years good or bad we will all be ok and you romantics will find some other person to spit your foolish rantings about and get 3 comments on your blog. This sounds like a movie script. I can’t believe that we have been thru the cold war, pearl harbor, 911, mortgage crisis, baby Bush, a great depression, and after all that you think healthcare legislation and catholic institutions buying contraceptives is going to ruin our country. The fact is we will go on living in this great nation and allow your fiction to entertain us for years to come, thank you sir for the laugh.

  4. Ed Browne Says:

Mark – Great blog….sadly, too many won’t bother to look for affirmation like this to support the feeling in their guts.

Tom – More people than you think do realize what is going on with this “Takeover” of America. Unfortunately, too many of them feel the situation has descended into hopelessness. Books could be written specifically detailing why/how this very “Un-American” phenomenon crept its way into our culture.

Marlon – Your depiction of fact as “doomsday rhetoric” is parochial at best and historically ignorant at worst. Were you born in this country? I have always said that Liberals are not bad people; they just haven’t thought it through. When the rule of law no longer matters, they’ll make war against something you care about too.

    All the Best,

    Ed

  5. Josh Brown Says:

There is so much truth to what you are saying, I personally believe that Obama’s goal in his beginning of his first term was to desensitize Americans away from their values and beliefs by forcing us to make one compromise after another. Now we are at the end of his first term he is starting to enact more of his will upon us. The contraceptive issue is not about contraceptive its about Obama’s control over religion and American Ideals. The saddest part of it all is that some people will never understand that. Thanks for this awesome blog.

  6. Jeff Saffir Says:

Mark – great blog. As more and more of the constitution slips away, I wonder how and when things will change. When you have a society that is sick, defeated mentally, and uneducated they are very easy to control. They are nothing to fear. An educated, healthy, and confident society is harder to control. This type of society would surely be feared by government. Not so much a fear for their own safety, but a fear that people won’t stand for their poppycock anymore and not re-elect them. Somewhere along the way “for the people” has turned into “control the people”. How did it work out in Germany?

Clearly you haven’t been reading what is really going on. Sounds like you’ve been buying the false rumor mongering of Fox news and the Tea Party.
If there was an ounce of truth to your accusations. I would respect your right to have a differing opinion. But there is no basis whatsoever to these claims against Obama.
I’m not particularly happy with him (for other reasons), but he does NOT represent the kind of activities, policies, or positions you claim.

This is shallow, hateful, and false rhetoric. If you are going to make these kinds of accusations, you need to back them up with facts.
But you can’t, because there is no basis in fact to ANY of this.
This kind of propaganda is ruining the country. It’s leading others in a false direction and supporting those who obfuscate any progress or any effort to make things better.

The accusations you are making about him, should be pointed at his opposition. It’s the Republicans who are trying to change the constitution(women’s rights, and the judicial decision that gave corporations the right to buy the election). It
s the Republicans who are trying to use religion to control the people(Santorum), who helped design the health bill (Romney) and then rage against it when it gets supported by Obama. It’s the Repubs who control and censor Obama’s appointees and refuse to allow any real examination or regulation of the industry who brought us down. There’s much much more.

I suggest you get your facts straight before making such transparent and false accusations.

So right. We cannot have a nation of silent lambs.

  10. admin Says:

For some, liberty is only valued when it is taken away. And right now, it is slipping from our hands.

  11. admin Says:

It is paradoxically sad that we have a president who hates his nation.

  12. admin Says:

Elena is the kind of Minute Woman we need as sentinels of our freedom!

  13. woman’s point of view Says:

Are you joking? What about MY freedom to practise MY beliefs. You think a religious institution should dictate to our society at large that I cannot decide when or whether to have children? Or if I have to pay hundreds of dollar a month out of my own pocket (assuming I can afford it) for something that most Americans will have covered with no co-pay? If my religion allows birth control, why shouldn’t I be able to have birth control as part of my health insurance if I happen to work for a Catholic college or hospital?

I live in CT – the last state to have a law that made birth control access illegal. Thank goodness we’ve moved beyond the Dark Ages. Or are you saying we should go back there?

If we all were forced to follow the teachings of the Catholic Church, or any particular religion for that matter, this would be a pretty lousy country to live in. We denigrate Iran and Saudi Arabia for their state-sponsored religious fundamentalism. What’s different about what the Catholic Church is attempting for foist on Americans? Huh?

I’m not going to get into what I believe the state of the Union is at present, or at anytime, because I don’t believe this is the proper venue.

And this is precisely my point that I wish to express to you: Mark, as a Marketing guru and pioneer, you should know better than all of us that perception is everything and that you should never attempt to alienate a potential market.

Let’s suppose you are correct in your political outlook. Let us even further assume that the majority of your potential clients share your views. Even still, there are plenty of industries where executives hold viewpoints that oppose your own and if they were to read this they would be much less inclined to use your services.

You may say they would be making a mistake, because political viewpoints would not interfere with your recommendations and services rendered. And in response, I would say: “Exactly”. Your political views are irrelevant and only serve to limit your market potential.

I honestly cannot believe you of all people would risk such negative perception as it is your talent to carefully discern the expressions and positions most applicable to your target markets universally.

Not everyone is conservative and catholic, not even most execs. In my opinion its a grave mistake to have such partisan posts under the heading of MSCO, even in as casual a publication as a blog. You should take this post and others like it down. If you want to express it go ahead in another venue, you are risking your brand here.

  15. A Mere Visitor Who Was Interested in Your Firm Says Says:

also, I get the whole “I tell it like it is” deal, but this is just completely unrelated to any consultant or aspect of your business professionally. I’m racking my brain for a reasonable explanation and honestly can’t come up with one except personal angst and frustration with policy and that’s really not a good enough reason to expose your company to such risk.

  16. A Mere Visitor Who Was Interested in Your Firm Says:

and just an FYI, I am an educated and experienced in market research and communications and came to your website to apply for one of your openings. I think I could have done well for you. Seeing how you handle things here I have to say I will not be applying, and not that its any of your business, but just so you avoid the rationalization, I vote republican.

  17. Joe Says:

    Mark,
I happened onto your blog as I was lead there for another reason, but found all that I read excellent. This particular blog is superb and certain of the responses exposes how far down the slippery slope we have gone.
I wrote my comments on FB concerning a particular public incident and the things that you are discussing in this blog that go along with it. I had a lot of “tell it like it is Joe”…and then the couple that decided to raise the bar in “discussion.” We “respectfully” debated over the course of a week, and the last couple were…”I really don’t think this is the venue to discuss these things.”
Well if this is not the venue…or in the case of FB…it is not the venue, then what is? In fact, just the fact that commentators are trying to silence you on this as your venue, also validates your comments. As I heard said the other day…”Death by a thousand cuts!”
We the people are with you!!!
    Take Care!
    Joe

    It’s not too late, Mark.

EVeryone is awake now. We know what’s at stake, and we’re no longer going through life as usual. In fact, the next election can’t come soon enough for most of us.

We outnumber them. Vastly. No one knows that more than Liberals – despite what they say.

    This ends Nov 2012.

  19. chris B Says:

    Mark – BRAVO!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!

  20. Mike R Says:

I’m jealous! I wish I could have said the things you said better than you, but, what can I say, you said it perfectly. Fantastic writing!! Let’s hit’em where it hurts; every God fearing, constitution loving American should be anxious to vote O’king out of the oval office in November.

  21. Dotsa Glaz Says:

    Fabulously written article!

I just saw you on Fox News regarding those who boycott & terrorize advertisers. Hallelujah to you. THANK YOU SO MUCH for standing up against the spineless whiners and speaking your mind! (Have you considered running for office in a few years? The Conservatives could use a strong representative such as you!)

Keep up the good work, and God bless you!

  22. Ron Braithwaite Says:

The United States is the Jewel in the Crown. The Obamistas, including the sanctimonious mass media and the self-deified George Soros hope to force our nation into their narrow Left Wing bag. As goes the U.S., so goes everything else. Simple really. Utopia in our time–a Utopia in which most of us will be permitted to share the poverty equally. Party apparachniks will, of course, do pretty good but, then again, some animals have always been more equal than others, so why complain?

The problem with the above glorious future is that most Americans see the sophistry and frightfulness inherent in it. A vast anger is growing in the land.

  23. Dave A Says:

Set a goal of starting a company making anything, hire at least twelve people and then come back and report your experience. You must acquire all the appropriate permits, certifications, pay all taxes and pay all employer mandated costs. All these Einsteins can throw all there educations they spent thousands for out the window to understand how the real world works.

  24. Rush Limbaugh sponsor says his company is a target of “internal American terrorism.” | Quotes About People Says:

[...] To say that he doesn’t ALWAYS agree with Limbaugh don’t mean Mark Stevens doesn’t agree with most of Limbaugh’s nonsense. This comes from Mark Stevens’ Unconventional Thinking Blog where he pontificates on issues of the day: The President Who Would Be A Pope [...]

  25. cmb Says:

A ridiculous tissue of lies. POPE Obama for trying to make insurance companies supply birth control, which the vast majority of Catholics use? Pope Obama. One has to laugh. What idiocy this is. Extra points for “Thrust himself into the Catholic Church,” though, as to be a priest one must possess a willy. And possibly use it, apparently.

A tsunami of spending? Nope. Bush still has Obama beat three to one, once you count the Bush tax cuts and sabotaged programs like Medicare Part D.

Since Mark decided to back armed insurrection against the United States in this post, perhaps it should contain at least one single fact first. Sadly, there are no facts whatsoever to be found in his histrionic list of lies. Not one single fact in the piece.

  26. paul Says:

Why are conservatives always so angry? I once read a book linking right wing politics with sexual frustration. By the way did you ever find those weapons of mass destruction in Iraq your hero George W told us about?
