Your Marketing Sucks 10th Anniversary Edition Released

YMS_10thanniversarycoverBusinessweek bestseller and breakthrough hit for Mark Stevens Your Marketing Sucks has been updated and rereleased with new content. This 10th Anniversary Edition delves into the making of a viral brand, along with a short story on the reception of the book 10 years ago.

We can’t believe it’s been that long since YMS came out. But when you look back, it’s amazing how much has changed since then. Think about media ten years ago:

  • There was no Facebook or Twitter
  • The most popular mobile phone was the RAZR

Behind the Scenes at the Heatwave Commercial Shoot

Commercial Shoot for Heatwave Pest Control

Coming to a cable TV channel near you, HeatWave Pest Control! Yesterday, MSCO had the privilege of working with them to shoot their first TV commercial. The spot expounds on the benefits of their heat treatment for removing bedbugs from your home, said to be a safer alternative to harsh chemicals. Heatwave also makes use of canine detection to sniff out bedbugs where they live, something also highlighted in the spot.

In producing the spot, MSCO worked with Lisa Marie Latino of the venerable Long Shot Productions. We’re looking forward to seeing the end result of her direction and vision, and 5 hours of footage condensed into a :30 second spot. (more…)

Water Scrooge Makes a Splash at Buildings NY Show

Water Scrooge Booth at Buildings NYMSCO client Water Scrooge was a hit at this weeks Buildings NY trade show.  The annual show attended by residential and commercial landlords who own buildings of all sizes was the ideal place to show off the potential of this new water conservation product.

The most notable feature of our space was the water tank we set up to demonstrate how Water Scrooge works. Showing that even with the reduced gallons per minute, water pressure remains solid is one of our chief marketing goals for this new brand. Not to mention that this system of patented, tamper proof shower head regulators will help landlords save hundreds of dollars per unit, per year off their water bills.

The best part is Water Scrooge sold over 100 units to landlords from around the Tri-State and generated well over 70 leads from the event alone! I guess our simple message is resonating:

Overdosed On Oprah

There is one perfect person in the world. At least that’s the way Ms. Oprah Winfrey sees it every time she looks in the mirror.

What she may not know is that zillions of us are so overdosed on her that the situation is becoming toxic. Perhaps fatal.

I know, I know, Ms. Oprah is a talented woman, a world-class entrepreneur. But she always positions herself as angelic, saintly, a kingmaker, an all knowing, and all encompassing model of perfection.
I wonder if she knows of Ludwig Mies van de Rohe, the iconic architect best known for the minimalist “less is more” style and philosophy. If Winfrey is familiar with Mies, she clearly does not ascribe to his world view. When it comes to Oprah, Ms. Perfect believes that more is clearly more. That our lives are surely incomplete unless we are constantly bombarded by her image, her message, her uber worldly magnificence.
